NARROW STAIRS

Death Cab put up a little behind the scenes video of the recording of their new album, on the front page of their website. A little something to whet our appetites while we wait for its release. From the video, it looks like they recorded the new album in Seattle, Portland (woop!) and San Francisco....

They also just officially announced the title, which is "Narrow Stairs". It's also been announced that it's scheduled for a May release date... a nice birthday gift for me! Hah.

NEW YORK TIMES + JOHN JAY

Didn't even know he was invited to do this, but this week's guest contributor on the New York Times blog is none other than pops lol.

"This week’s guest blogger is John Jay, the Executive Creative Director and Partner of the Wieden + Kennedy advertising agency which includes Nike among its clients. Now based in Portland, Ore., Jay works in Asia once a month. In addition to helping to open W+K’s Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing and New Delhi offices, he also founded W+K Tokyo Lab (an independent DVD music label) and Studio J, a private creative consultancy in Portland’s Chinatown. Jay writes a blog for Honeyee.com in Tokyo and is a contributor to magazines in Tokyo and the U.S. on creativity and pop culture, including Tokion Japan, Giant Robot, Theme and Spread magazine. This week, Jay will be posting from Tokyo on the commodification of Japanese youth culture."

THE COUNTDOWN

Just found this awesome online documentary series called "The Countdown", which is now in its 2nd online season... it follows 5 fashion designers every year as they scramble to prepare for their New York Fashion Week shows. Last year they had designers like Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone... this year they've had Thom Browne, and in an upcoming episode, one of my favorites Band Of Outsiders.

Cheeeeck it out!

NdG F/W 08.09

Fall 2008/Winter 2009 collection from Nom de Guerre... apparently inspired by American WWII cinema? Lots of monochrome here. I'm diggin it though. Every individual piece is pretty nice, but the last coat with the buckles and the short duffle are standing out to me.

Good thing I can never afford anything from NdG haha.... soon, soon.... just you wait and see.

THE 503 - "THE CABIN"

So here is Episode 2 in I guess what will be an irregular but ongoing series of Portland life documentation... I've always done things of this sort, but now all Portland videos will be under one titled banner and YouTube will allow me to get em online. As I go along I'll probably develop a style to them, so it should be fun.

Without further adieu, here is "The Cabin" in two parts:

Part 1

Part 2
