PRISMATIC WONDERS

Studio J is collaborating with our good friend Hazel Cox to exhibit PRISMATIC WONDERS- a showcase/open studio of her new jewelry work on December 12th. Also on display is a great collection of new photography by our friend Bruce Wolf.

This is the first of hopefully many open studio events Studio J is looking to host, spotlighting talented artists and designers while providing a unique and intimate retail experience.

Please mark your calenders and stop by on December 12th!

SACHIKO KANENOBU

Speaking of records, one of my "holy grails" of vinyl recently popped up on Ebay for a mere 599 dollars...

An original issue of Sachiko Kanenobu's 1972 album "MISORA".

Kanenobu is a tragically undiscovered Japanese folk singer who released this amazing album in 1972 and then retreated into family life, leaving behind momentum on a promising music career.

"MISORA" is a beautiful, beautiful album that drew comparisons to Joni Mitchell and sonically fits right in with the American folk-rock of that era. I discovered her music about three or four years ago, right before a summer trip to Japan and instantly fell in love with it.

I wish I had 600 dollars laying around to spend on this!

And look how cute she was!

ANNA

A recent Hawthorne record store find that made me very happy:

The original album by French New Wave icon Anna Karina, Serge Gainsbourg and Jean-Claude Brialy, made for the 1967 musical comedy "ANNA".

I'm a huge Anna Karina fan if you didn't already know.

Draped cowl neck jacket made with moleskin and leather. Asymmetrical exposed zipper, stretch cotton sleeves, welt waist pockets and tone on tone stitching.

Awesome. Get it at Blackbird.

THE SELBY

My favorite website of the moment is THE SELBY.

Todd Selby photographs the places called home by a wide variety of interesting people. From Brooklyn to London, Tokyo and Milan, The Selby gives us a glimpse into the creative spaces belonging to artists, designers, models, musicians, magazine editors, chefs and more. I can get lost in it for hours.

T MAGAZINE - THE STRIP

This is an editorial from New York Times Style's T Magazine I meant to post a couple months ago. It was shot by Sebastian Kim and I really like the styling by Andreas Kokkino and Melissa Ventosa Martin. It features a couple pieces from the Opening Ceremony/Pendleton collaboration.

NOVEMBER TUNES

The Beach Boys meets Joy Division.

I'm a little late, but this is undeniably epic.
