FIREWORKS

My good friend Bryan Schlam just completed his new music video project for the unjustly unsigned band The Hoof & The Heel. The song is called "Fireworks" and I am ridiculously proud of him for this one. The video will steal your breath and all I can really say is watch it, and spread it everywhere you can.

The exuberance of the song is matched in the beauty of Bryan and cinematographer Pat Scola's visuals, but beyond the pretty images is a narrative about where things go after two people feel the "fireworks" fade away.

RED DESERT CRITERION

AT LONG LAST!!!!

Words cannot describe my excitement.

Michelangelo Antonioni's long out of print and unseen 1965 masterpiece RED DESERT finally sees the re-release it deserves through the Criterion Collection!!!

Luckily, I was able to find an old copy of the now out of print 1999 DVD release for rental at a video store last year, so I've seen the film already... but it was a horrible quality transfer, so I am beyond thrilled to hear Criterion is properly remastering it.

Now all we need is theatrical run!

SPIKE JONZE INTERVIEWS OPENING CEREMONY

I love Opening Ceremony not only for their obvious amazing taste and the refined curatorial spirit of their stores, but also for the philosophies behind the brand.

This video interview with founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, conducted by Spike Jonze, is a fantastic in depth look at OC's early beginnings up to the opening of their latest space in the New York Ace Hotel (amazing by the way).

I was really inspired by Leon and Lim's ambitious, risky and in some ways naive initial intentions for their store, which has since evolved considerably and certainly paid off.

Check out the two-part interview at VBS here:

HELLO NYC

It felt so amazing to be back in New York. I'm at a different point in my life now, and I'm seeing the city through a different lens.
